SEP 1

Program of Study: Engineering AS

Concentration: CalGETC GE

Potential Transfer School: UC San Diego

The student plans to major in Electrical Engineering and transfer to UC San Diego. We updated his Student Education Plan to include major preparation courses, general education requirements, and coursework for his Engineering AS degree at CSM. He plans to spread out his coursework through the fall term before applying for transfer admission for the following fall.

Note: Engineering 100 is recommended not required and the student shared interest in the course.

SEP 2

Program of Study: Digital Media: Graphic Design AA

Potential Transfer School: UCLA

The student is interested in Digital Media and Graphic Design and shared that she is considering transferring to UCLA for their Design program. We reviewed the transfer requirements and noted that there are no specific courses listed as required for admission, but certain courses are recommended. As we developed her comprehensive Student Education Plan, we identified courses that are only transferable to the CSU system. Excluding those courses, her current plan totals 52 units, meaning we still need to identify 8 additional units that can count toward her degree. We will revisit this during a future meeting.

SEP 3

Program of Study: Biology AS-T, Chemistry AS

Concentration: CalGETC GE

Potential Transfer Schools: UC Davis (UCD), UC Irvine (UCI), UC Santa Barbara (UCSB)

The student is currently pursuing a Biology AS-T degree and is interested in completing an additional Chemistry AS degree, as she will already be completing many of the required courses. She entered CSM with AP credits that may help satisfy general education requirements, including MATH 251, HIST 201, and HIST 106.

As we developed her comprehensive Student Education Plan (SEP), we included CHEM 231 and CHEM 232, which are required for her intended major at UCSB and UCI, as well as STAT C1000, which is required for UCSB. She will determine whether she wants to move forward with these additional courses or focus on applying to UC Davis and completing her transfer by Spring 2028.

We will continue discussing her transfer options during our next couple of meetings before finalizing her transfer timeline.

SEP 4

Program of Study: Business Administration AS-T

Concentration: CalGETC GE

Potential Transfer Schools: CSULB, SJSU, Sacramento State, SDSU

The student is pursuing a Business Administration 2.0 AS-T degree and hopes to transfer to one of her identified CSU campuses. As a returning student, she shared that she experienced some academic challenges during previous semesters but is now back in school, participating in the Promise Program, and ready to focus on her academic goals.

She is currently on academic probation and is prioritizing improving her GPA and making up past credits. We discussed her previous F grade in COMM 130 and her plan to pursue academic renewal, as the course is not required for her current educational goal. We will continue supporting her academic progress and transfer preparation as she works toward meeting her goals.

SEP 5

Program of study: Biology AS-T

Concentration: CalGETC

Potential Transfer School: UCI

The student is interested in majoring in Biology and pursuing a Biology AS-T degree. He has already completed coursework during the summer and has AP credit that satisfies several GE requirements, allowing him to focus primarily on major preparation courses. He shared that he is unsure whether he wants to complete all of his GE coursework, as these courses are adding to his overall unit load. We will follow up to discuss whether he would prefer to move some courses to a future semester to maintain a lighter course load or continue with his current plan. Once his course plan is finalized, we will update his SEP timeline accordingly.
